Globe-Trotting Productions was founded by Cathy Beasley and Ian Abadilla; young indie filmmakers with a passion for creating personal and unique works, with a focus on giving a voice to people that are normally underrepresented on screen.
Cathy was born in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after her family moved to Southern California where her love for films began. Growing up she had a career in ballet before starting an acting course with the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Upon completion of the program she began her acting career on various films and television shows. But she soon learned she preferred being behind the camera. She attended the New York Film Academy and started making short films directly after. Cathy made her first feature length film, Baker, in 2010 while still continuing to work on other professional productions. In 2012 she successfully raised a feature-length budget to shoot the film The Scapegoat in Venice, Italy. She also made the feature A Venetian Dream, and the short film Myrtle that was nominated for best cinematographer in the Underwire Film Festival (UK). See link to the full film below. Her films have played at various film festivals over the years. Most recently the Miami Independent Film Festival, Toronto Smartphone Film Festival and the Prague International Film Festival.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Ian worked for several years as an attorney before moving to New York to study at Circle in the Square Theatre School. He has since starred in many theatre productions, but in the last few years has become more focused on film and TV endeavors. Most notably, he played a leading role in the independent film The Long Term Side Effect which played at various film festivals around the US, and was nominated for several awards including Best Feature at the IndieCapitol Awards. Since co-founding Globe-Trotting Productions with Cathy Beasley, he began both acting and producing roles on several projects, including their first short film City Nights which won a Spotlight Award at the Elevation Indie Film Awards, and their second short The Altruistics.
